More about Pairie View Montessori
Montessori programs are designed around children’s developmental stages. Classes are divided into three year age groups to approximate these cycles. The advantage of this is that children get to spend longer periods of time together. As a result, they typically form long-lasting friendships and learn how to build a community, an experience that can be missing in today’s society.
Teachers get to know the children at a deeper level than they would if they were with them for only one year. Three year classes are also more diverse. Imagine if, as an adult, you were required to spend your day only with people exactly your age! The multi-age group is more natural. It allows the youngest children to relax and know that they have time to grow and learn. They, in turn, look up to the older children as helpers and guides. And because the activities are developmental as well, children can look forward to the day when they use that “hard work” they’ve been watching an older child use!
Older children have a special job as role models and even teachers to the others. This is an extremely satisfying experience for them that brings self-esteem and personal confidence.*
Our programs follow a ten-month academic schedule from fall to spring. After a short break, the daily schedules continue with our Summer Splash! Program. Parents can also enroll their children for any or all of three summer sessions.
